Cleveland Area code

Cleveland is served by three area codes - 216, 440 and 330. Area code 216 serves only Cleveland and its inner-ring suburbs while area code 440 serves the suburbs outside of Cuyahoga County. The 216 area code was established in 1947 as one of the original area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). It initially covered the entire northeastern part of Ohio, including Cleveland and its suburbs.
